- - - -i am he as you are heAS YOU ARE ME AND WE ARE ALL TOGETHERHouses... safe as houses. Past them down the street. Then down another. And another.
When next he looked up, Ramiel found himself confronted with a desert. Lots and lots of sand. How had he gotten here? Car, train, bus? But it didn't matter. He was here now. Had to deal. Or did he? Eyes darting first one way, then another, he surveyed his options. He could head back to town. Once he got over his initial panic, he saw the distant outline of buildings behind him. Or he could keep walking, lose himself in the shifting swirling sands. Something about the emptiness of it appealed to him, so he turned his back on civilization and started putting one foot in front of the other.
The clownish figure of a Joshua tree loomed on his right, and Ramiel eyed it suspiciously. In his experience, if something looked like a tree, grew like a tree, but wasn't a tree— well, that tree wasn't to be trusted. He grinned, patted its trunk almost affectionately, then moved on. The ground was uncertain beneath his normally dependable hush puppies, and he glared at them. How dare they betray him this way?
A sudden noise came from behind, and he whipped around to face... nothing. But wait, was it really nothing? If he squinted, he could just make out the blurry outlines of a human shape, though at this distance it was impossible to be sure. Maybe it was a mirage. Ramiel had heard of those. They happened to humans in the desert all the time. He wondered whether angels, fallen or not, were equally susceptible. Anyway, it wouldn't be the first time he'd fallen prey to a vision. Just in case for once he wasn't seeing things, he called out: "Hello? Who's there? If you're a mirage, go away. I've already met my hallucinatory quota for today." Just moments before, Lilith received intel of a possible human sited just on the outskirts of town. Brave, or suicidal, Lilith couldn’t really tell which one she would choose to describe one that did such a thing. Probably more of the suicidal type, then the Validus would gladly give the human a proper ending instead the desert taking them. At first, Lilith considered to decline and ignore the informative whisper. Then again, she was only but a flight away and perhaps something else was hiding in the dead abyss out there. As Lilith’s steps began to slow down, the Validus still contemplated to turn herself the other way around and head out the city. Biting her naked pink bottom lip in indecisiveness, her neck slowly turned her head in the direction of the outskirts as her fogged blacken eyes set in that direction.
"Oh, what the hell…"
sighed Lilith as her whole body then mimicked the motion of her neck and head from the opposite direction she forsook. In a natural movement, the Validus spread out her black feathered wings that shot out of her back as they stretched their full wing span. The wings began to bend as they flapped, creating a gust of wind as Lilith’s sandy colored ankle boots ascended from the ground. With another movement of her wings, her speed increased as she continued her flight toward the foot of the desert. Boredom glinted in Lilith’s eyes as she surveyed the landscape until only did she catch a particular set of footprints in the sand. Tilting her head to the side in a spark of curiosity, her altitude began to drop as her feet touched the unstable earth. Her heeled shoes sunk into the tan sands as her full weight was stabled by her legs. With a sigh of annoyance, Lilith’s nose caught the scent of a vague sweet scent. Angel perhaps? No, it was too dull to be an angel Lilith deducted. ”A fallen one?” Lilith’s mind caught a bit of an amusement to this thought. She wondered why this one was heading away from the city instead of staying to protect whatever they fight for. Following the footsteps, Lilith easily caught up to the creature she was searching for. A male fallen angel she could tell as he turned his face around. ”Hello? Who’s there? If you’re a mirage, go away. I’ve already met my hallucinatory quota for today.” The Validus raised an eyebrow at the male fallen angel’s words. His voice seemed pained and exasperated. Flapping her wings to close the distance between them, Lilith landed only but a few feet away. A safe distance for her if he was armed, but close and personal the way Lilith preferred. "You’d probably wish I was one. A mirage is safer than me." Lilith spoke, her words were plain, no maliciousness even behind her slight threat of her supremacy but yet it carried a humorous tone. - - - -i am he as you are heAS YOU ARE ME AND WE ARE ALL TOGETHERAs it approached, the figure separated from the horizon, its form coalescing, and it became clear why he’d initially thought it strange enough to qualify for the label ‘mirage.’ Black wings held it aloft, bearing it towards him at an alarming rate. It closed the gap in no time at all, and as it landed nearby he caught a glimpse of its face. Her face. She was tall for a woman and gave off an unmistakable air of domination. Ramiel backed away instinctively, casting his eyes nervously in her direction. The wind was wrong, he couldn’t smell her, but with those wings she could only be a demon or a Validus. Either way, not really someone he was in the mood for right now. Then again, to be fair he was rarely in the mood for anyone. It had always been like that, though it was worse since he’d been torn from heaven. “That is why I came out here,” he told the demon— Validus?— pointedly. “To be safe. City back there is a warzone.” He would have just told her to go bother somebody else, but he was not quite that suicidal. Crystal blue eyes observed the nameless creature before her, as he took a step away from her as his eyes were glazed with a hint of fear. Hm, smart one.
commented Lilith inaudibly to only herself within her mind. A satisfied twitch curved her lips as she realized she was the one who controlled this little meeting with this fallen one. As the Fallen spoke, his voice spoke of no fear but a bit of weariness Lilith hinted at. ”That is why I came out here. To be safe. City back there is a warzone.” His words surprised the Validus as she contained her light emotion within her own head as her features displayed placidity to it, something rare for Lilith. Normally her eyes glittered with mischief and deceit, or her lips curved in either in seduction or cruel amusement. Right now, no emotions sprung out except an interest for this Fallen. ”A pacifist Fallen. Very atypical." Lilith commented on the nameless Fallen one. Her eyes glanced about him; in a sense Lilith believe that she was looking at a broken site. Something was amiss with this one. Lilith’s mind dwindled on his words he spoke. He’d rather escape the danger than fight for his side, or preferably against the demons or so she assumed. Fallen angels strive to find favor in the eyes of the Archangels once more to only be awarded with wings once more. They demand that they repay their rebellion or treason of heaven by serving those humans. Such a low position. More Fallen should forsake that choice and be reborn into a demon. It would be the most efficient way to earn their wings again. Lilith felt the sand sink at her weight. From her heeled boots from becoming devoured by the sands, the Validus stepped to the side, still keeping her distance at the uncomfortable fallen one. - - - -i am he as you are heAS YOU ARE ME AND WE ARE ALL TOGETHERRamiel was conscious of the demon’s gaze fixed on him, like he was some kind of circus freak. He did his best not to flinch under the scrutiny. His best wasn’t nearly good enough. This woman was clearly the dominant one here, and just as clearly she knew it. A smirk played about her lips, sending shivers down the ex-angel’s spine. ”A pacifist Fallen. Very atypical. Her tone was at odds with her icy expression; it suggested a detached interest, possibly even offered the notion of friendship. False notion. No such thing to be found in hell or heaven. He’d been kicked out of the former, but even so, knew the latter held no hopes either. The man he’d once counted as friend was there, at least the thing that bore his face, but Duma didn’t live there anymore. Ramiel had visited him in Hell, years ago, but seeing him there like that had only driven him further into the hurricane of visions.
“Not pacifist exactly,” he told the demon, shuffling sideways to avoid the fickle sands. “Just apathetic.” It was true. After centuries of wandering, crawling about the earth like a delusional cockroach, he still hadn’t found what he was looking for. He didn’t even know what it was anymore, assuming he ever had. But lately, when war broke out and Hell’s fury was unleashed on the unsuspecting human population, he had just stopped caring altogether. The reappearance of the angels had only cemented his resolve, hardened the wall he’d erected for himself. He was done fighting the battles of others. He had quite enough conflict going on just under the skin, he didn’t need to go out looking for more. Lilith ;;tagged 300ish ;;words clicky ;;outfit -kicks holidays- ;;notes Template by me. ”Not pacifist exactly. Just apathetic.”
The Validus’ gaze swayed to the side with the sideway shuffle of the Fallen as like a spotlight adjusting to only him. She only observed him and his movements. His eyes seemed heavy with weariness whether from his mentality or physicality. What Lilith’s knowledge depicted from this one was that very same word he spoke of, apathy. Unlike this one, fallen angels usually immediately see the error of their ways and lean on repentance. The only way to save a Fallen from eons of years on earth or Hell was to service themselves to a human as to what they refer to as a guardian. Only brainwashed fools who desired to grovel underneath such ghastly orders would take up the offer. The other option was so much easier to accomplish and so worth the while. To fall and become the opposite of what was once holy and pure figure of heaven now a twisted and commendable Demon among the dwelling place of Hell. Certainly this one knew of such pleasures and spoils instead of crawling across this condemned piece of rock and dust. Lilith’s arms folded across her chest casually as her lashes batted in a blink from a chilled wind that swirled around them, carrying specs of sand particles and debris. She kept her interest in this Fallen only safely locked in her mind. Certainly this male was on the Angels’ side due to the fact he had no human by his side and that he was caught fleeing the battlefield of the city. Perhaps he’d be interested in the easier way out of this madness. Allowing only a few silent seconds to pass through the two creatures, Lilith’s vocals produced an amused, winded chuckle as her lips twitched with such little hilarity. ”There are other ways to be apathetic which didn’t involve stumbling across the desert.” Lilith stated, her head just tilting slightly to the left. Her tune gave a light nudging feel toward the Fallen, hoping he’d take the bait she casted for him. The female Validus did enjoy those who forsook the laws of heaven; he could be valuable to her now, but more so if he would turn into a Demon and become a follower of Hell.
