Since he had woken up that morning, Marshal knew where he was going to spend his day. The idea had been planted in his head for days and he knew that he, sooner or later, was going to go through with it, even though he had promised he wouldn't without supervision. A few days ago, Marshal's image of him being the only one of his kind was shattered into a million pieces. During a visit to the cemetary, he had accidently bumped into someone, who had turned out, not just to be older than him, but the same as him, another Invictius! He hadn't thought it odd at first, that out of the whole world and all the countries and all the cemetaries in that world, that he happened to run into someone of his same speices. Marshal loved Pan like a older sister and was willing to do anything for her. He owed her so much as she had given him a place to live and was teaching him how to control his powers. Marshal was only 10 by human standards and had barely begun to tap his mental abilities and Pan was his teacher. Though he had been practicing every day, his powers were still eratic, sometimes doing the things he wanted and other times, getting completely out of control. The young Invicitus had promised Pan that he wouldn't practice without her to watch him, but Marshal couldn't take it anymore. He needed to go somewhere and try to figure things out for himself, and so when Pan had left, Marshal left the appartment they were living in and went out to the destination that he had picked out the other day.
Instead of flying straight over the city like he would have before, he glided from building to building. Sure it was slower, but he didn't want to get caught today. Pan was out and about in the city and if he flew, and she saw his golden wings, he wouldn't be able to deny that he hadn't gone anywhere. Even if he had been able to keep Pan out of his mind, another thing she was teaching hiim was how to block his thoughts, he wouldn't lie to her. He just couldn't. And so, carefully and slowly, Marshal made his way towards the city limits, hiding from anyone or anything that moved out of the corner of his eye. But when he came to the area were all the building seemed to stop as if someone had cut the city off with a knife. If he had thought that the inside of the city looked chaotic, then the outskirts were worse. Cars were piled up ontop of each other or utterly destroyed from people that had overflowed the highway as they tried to flee the city. As he started to pull in for a landing, he noticed a shopping cart of all things filled with pictures and little trinkets. Ignoring his suddenly curiosity to look at the pictures, Marshal walked to a little clear area and let his golden wings sink into his back. This area was perfect. Nothing for him to hur besides already damaged cars.
Setting his sights on what had once been a red toyota, Marshal breathed out and closed his eyes, trying to empty his mind. Whenever he had done this around Pan he always got to excited, or afraid that he would disappoint her and he had rarely gotten past this first stage. But now that he was alone, it seemed easier to do this. The deadly silence of the outside also helped alot and determinely he raised his hand towards the car, trying to will his telekentic abilites to kick in. With his thoughts cleared, Marshal pushed with his mind towards the car. He could invision the car lifting off the ground a few centimeters, but nothing happened. Move Marshal pushed harder with his mind, feeling anger starting to well up inside him. Nothing happened. Move! He opened his eyes, his whole body had started to shake with the effort of his mental pushing MOVE! Nothing happened.
The 6'8 ten year old reacted like any other child would. After days of nothing happening, frustration and anger spewed out of him and he did the only thing children do. He threw a tantrum. Walking forward, Marshal pulled his massive hands into fists and slammed them down on the car, the worn out metal screeching at it was bent down, whatever glass that was left shattering outwards. He cried out as tears started to fall down his cheek and he started punching the car underneath him, beating the metal, demanding that it surrender to his fists rather than his mind. Soon nothing of the car remained, but a twisted heap of metal. Picking it up, Marshal tossed it harshly away from him, the last yell on his lips seeming to hang in the air. The pile of scrape metal slammed into another car, the sound that emerged as a resoulte echoing through the highway. The young Invictius sat down heavily on the hood of a nearby car and drew his knees up underneath his chin, hugging his lanky legs to his chest. Leaning his head down Marshal cried into his knees. Why could he do anything that Pan could? Why would nothing work for him? Would he be able to actually do anything right? Was he broken? Was he just a damaged freak? Sobbing, Marshal didn't notice any walk up until a hand was placed on his shoulder. Startled, he looked up, the tears still clinging to his bis innocent brown eyes.
